Working group on kickoff meeting

The two-day inaugural meeting (kick-off meeting) of the “CADMUS” project was successfully completed on January 16, 2024, in the presence of the Governor of the National Cybersecurity Authority, Michail Bletsas, and the Deputy Governor, Antigoni Giannakaki.

The “CADMUS” project, with a total budget exceeding €6 million and European co-financing amounting to 50% through the European Health and Digital Executive Agency (HADEA), is one of the flagship projects of the Ministry of Digital Governance, implemented by the National Cybersecurity Authority (NCA). Its implementation falls under the framework of a call for proposals from the Digital Europe Programme (DEP), to which the NCA submitted a successful funding proposal in 2024, with the assistance of distinguished members of the country’s academic community.

The project involves public bodies, universities, and specialized research institutes in the field of cybersecurity from four European countries (Greece, Cyprus, the Netherlands, Croatia), with the NCA assuming the coordinating role.

The project is part of the broader framework of the European flagship policy to enhance skills in the field of cybersecurity. Specifically, the “CADMUS” project aligns with the European Commission’s initiative to address the cybersecurity skills gap, aiming to strengthen the competitiveness, sustainable growth, and resilience of the European Union. Within this context, the project is part of the suite of actions under the “Cybersecurity Skills Academy” (COM(2023) 207 final), where the Ministry of Digital Governance and the National Cybersecurity Authority play a leading role, emphasizing the strategic importance of Greek participation in promoting innovative actions in the field.

The “CADMUS” project has a duration of 36 months and primarily aims to enhance specialized cybersecurity skills across various professional categories, as well as to address the shortage of specialized human resources in this sector at the European level. The project includes the development of targeted training opportunities based on innovative approaches, such as:

  • Interactive simulation platforms in the field of cybersecurity
  • The creation and execution of cybersecurity hackathons and bootcamps
  • Training and internship programs in cybersecurity

These interventions aim to train and upskill public administration staff, educators, trainers, and employees of SMEs and startups.

At the same time, the project seeks to leverage existing educational initiatives in cybersecurity, both nationally and at the European level, to create improved training programs. These programs will strengthen the European workforce, equipping it to better address current and emerging threats in cyberspace.

During the meetings, the project partners discussed the initial implementation steps, laid the foundations for their collaboration, and agreed on the next actions in accordance with the relevant Grant Agreement.
